Inner Soul Spotlight: Bradd Marquis

Bradd Marquis, over the past three years has proven himself to me as a no nonsense, hardworking, driven and extremely talented singer. I don’t give space in my musical heart too freely, and typically the music that most folks roll with does very little for me — and I thereby usually do not show outward support. There was something about Bradd Marquis’ presence and sound that struck a chord with me, and hooked me in a crazy way! Before I absolutely endorse a singer, I do my research. Such was the case with Bradd Marquis when mentor, Gordon Chambers suggested to him that he reach out to ONUTSS for a listening party. This video right here — this one — made me a believer!

At the close of 2009, Bradd Marquis was invited to be part of a SoulBounce project which was a musical tribute to Mary J. Blige’s ‘My Life’ album. The spectacular musical tribute, SoulBounce Presents ‘Men Love Mary’: A Tribute to My Life was a free download of ‘My Life’ interpretations that pulled together some of today’s hottest male vocalists (Eric Roberson, DMo Macklin, Darien, TL Cross, Jesse Boykins III, Slakah the Beatchild and the underrated, Fave). Shortly thereafter the tribute evolved into a live event at New York’s SOBs. Bradd Marquis was on-hand for that as well. From start to finish, it was evident that everyone who participated brought their very best efforts to the table. Mary J. should have truly been pleased.

Bradd Marquis’ recent feature as part of The Bloom Effect‘s Efficacy video series which was first shown as a collaborative effort on This Is Real Music gave you a glimpse into who he is, what he likes to do behind the scenes and where his inspiration to make good music comes from. Here’s the video:
